Starward Tales is a collection of short stories, poems, and visual art retelling legends, myths, and fairy tales as science fiction.
TAKE THIS. This brief collection of poems is about games. From “D&D” to “Half-Life 3”, many of us are shaped by the games we play. Some of those shapes are in this book.
Anchor Story: RapUnsEl
Tanni is working to build a better future on Venus. From Venusberg, the geosynchronous citystation thousands of miles above the atmosphere of the planet, she controls a small team of construction drones working to build the environmental plants required for the terraforming project. Her life and work are disrupted when one of her drones gets trapped on the surface with Sam, a botanist and dancer working for one of the most powerful men in the Solar System. For a time, Tanni is able to hold together a secret life with Sam, connected to him only via her drone and the RapUnsEl, a space elevator which moves supplies between the station and the surface. She knew from the start that this arrangement couldn’t last forever, but she never expected that the fate of humanity might hang in the balance.

Dragon Line is a real world, playable version of a fictional card game played by the characters in the Isles of the Sun setting.
Each player builds a small army of dragons with which to face their opponent, chooses in which order the dragons approach the enemy lines, and attempts to be the player with dragons remaining in hand at the end. With clever drafting rules and thirty-five unique dragon cards, every hand of Dragon Line is a different game. More details here.
The Isles of the Sun is a d20 campaign setting with a nautical flavor. The Isles feature a victorianesque imperial society on the brink of major change and potential upheaval. This book gives GMs and players everything they need to adventure in the isles, including new races, prestige classes, spells, magic items, feats, detailed information about Isles society, and hundreds of years of history. Mixed into the guide are tidbits of GMing wisdom from the author’s over 20 years of GMing experience.
There is also a player’s guide to the setting, which contains a subset of the information in the full guide.
